Food is not just fuel. It is nourishment, it is medicine and, done right, it's delicious! I'm passionate about helping people enjoy food and thrive on it too.
A little about me...
I have always had a fascination with the human body. My curiosity heightened when, 9 months after giving birth to my daughter, I became very ill. My weight plummeted, as did my energy levels and motivation. I felt drained in every sense, even from walking up the stairs.
My body was producing more thyroid hormone than it required and my metabolism had sped up to an alarming rate. I was given medication to keep it under control and told to prepare for operation to destroy part of my thyroid gland and take medication every day for the rest of my life. My gut told me this wasn't the solution.
Taking matters into my own hands, I embarked on a complete diet and lifestyle overhaul. To the surprise of my doctor, within 3 months, my thyroid hormones had, unusually, returned to a normal level, I returned to a healthy weight and I felt happier and more energetic than ever. From this moment I knew I wanted to study nutrition. I discovered first-hand the power of food on my physical and mental health.

A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KNOW ABOUT ME...
My favourite animal is a horse and was my chosen form of school transport in the 80s.
I had to feed, shelter and walk a goat for a month before I was allowed said horse!
My four-legged friend of choice these days is my dog who I walk in the Hertfordshire countryside come rain or shine.
I believe every woman deserves to tell her health story, and be heard.
Too often symptoms are passed off as normal and just part of getting older. When signs that our body is not functioning are dismissed, we can feel invalidated and ignored.
