Food is not just fuel. It is nourishment, it is medicine and, done right, it's delicious! I'm passionate about helping people enjoy food and thrive on it too.

A little about me...

Even before I became a nutritional therapist and health coach, I was fascinated with the human body. My curiosity heightened when, 9 months after giving birth to my daughter, I became very ill. My weight plummeted, as did my energy levels and motivation. I felt drained in every sense, even from walking up the stairs.

My body was producing more thyroid hormone than it required and my metabolism had sped up to an alarming rate. This impacted how my gut was functioning and I started to avoid certain foods, replacing them with convenience foods which exacerbated the negative changes to my energy, mood and motivation. I was given potentially lifelong medication and told to prepare for an operation to destroy part of my thyroid gland. My gut told me this wasn't the solution.

Taking matters into my own hands, I embarked on a complete diet and lifestyle overhaul. To the surprise of my doctor, within 3 months my thyroid hormones returned to normal, I bacame a healthy weight, and I felt happier and more energetic than ever.

 

My digestion was something I no longer thought about; I could rely on it to do its job properly, and deal with anything I threw at it (or rather, mindfully sent in its direction!) This was a crucial lesson in the power of food on my physical and mental health and is something I have never since taken for granted.

A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KNOW ABOUT ME...

My favourite animal is a horse and was my chosen form of school transport in the 80s.

I had to feed, shelter and walk a goat for a month before I was allowed said horse! 

My four-legged friend of choice these days is my dog who I walk in the Hertfordshire countryside, come rain or shine.

I believe every woman deserves to tell her health story, and be heard.
